Tracey Mercer, OD

Optometrist

Tracey L. Mercer, OD, has been practicing primary care optometry in Shelby County for more than 25 years. She is passionate about providing comprehensive, personalized eye care and building lasting relationships with her patients and their families.

Advances in technology have transformed the way eye care is delivered, and Dr. Mercer is proud to offer technology that allows the practice to more effectively manage and treat dry eye disease, as well as monitor and manage patients with cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and other eye conditions. These advances also provide greater opportunities for early detection, which can be critical in preventing or minimizing vision loss.

Dr. Mercer grew up in Demopolis, Alabama. She earned her degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Alabama before receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999.

Outside of the office, family and community are an important part of Dr. Mercer’s life. She and her husband, Robert, have been married for more than 30 years. Robert serves as an associate minister at Asbury United Methodist Church. They have two adult children, Drew and Hannah, who are both actively involved in music and worship.

After more than 25 years of caring for patients in the Shelby County community, Dr. Mercer remains grateful for the opportunity to help her patients protect their vision and enjoy healthy eyes for years to come.
